Checklist for Winter Watering

22 Jun 2025 01:52

Checklist for Winter Watering During the dormant season, plants don’t seem to tell us much about how thirsty they are. Grass doesn’t look overly stressed, leaves don’t appear wilted and because we are inside more, we tend not to be thinking so much about plants being thirsty. In the next growing season, plants can and will show the effects of winter drought stress. Plants can suffer root loss due to dehydration during winter and spring. If you aren’t able to water your landscape, hire a landscape pro to do the work for you. It’s a good investment in the long-term value of your property.  Diggable Designs will perform this service at a cost of $125 for 2 hours of on site watering time, hoses provided. Any additional time over the two hours is $40 per hour or $20 per half hour. Please give us a call to schedule this valuable service: (303) 525-9595.

Diggable Designs Talks Residential Green Roofs

22 Jun 2025 01:50

Diggable Designs Talks Residential Green Roofs Residential projects pose some unique challenges for green roofs. You may need to work with a structural engineer before installation begins. Michael Moore, general manager and co-owner of Diggable Designs, another ALCC Sustainable Landscape Partner, learned this as the company first launched a residential green roof design and installation project in the Highlands area of Denver. Homes in this neighborhood are narrow, and tower four to five stories high.

22 Jun 2025 01:49

2017 Day of Service Project – Landscape Education Opportunities For the 2017 Day of Service, ALCC’s Southern and Denver Chapters helped local high schools move their training programs forward by creating outdoor areas where students will learn and practice hands-on skills. In Lakewood, Denver Chapter members returned to Green Mountain High School to expand work begun during last year’s Day of Service to build more outdoor learning areas. They completed Phase I of a two-year project and now instructor Courtney Mayo’s students have seven raised garden beds, graded areas to place a hoop house and chicken coop – plus pathways connecting all the stations. Mayo said he was in awe of all that industry pros could accomplish in one day. Several students were selected by their teachers to work alongside industry volunteers. READ THE FULL ARTICLE (pdf)

2016 Day of Service Project – Outdoor Learning Gardens

22 Jun 2025 01:47

2016 Day of Service Project – Outdoor Learning Gardens ALCC chapters joined landscape industry professionals across the country for the annual Day of Service on April 22, volunteering time and materials to help local communities restore and install new landscapes. ALCC chapters worked with schools and students on projects to enhance awareness and learning about landscapes and their value. Diggable Designs joined the Denver Chapter to work alongside students in the Career Pathway Program at Green Mountain High School, Lakewood. The project involved renovating beds at the main entrance and creating an outdoor learning lab garden. Rather than working for a school, this was the first time volunteers worked with its students. They removed/replaced rock mulch, relocated some plants and planted new ones.
